You are invited to come see the Mesquite Party for the Planet Singing Tree at the International Museum of Art in El Paso, TX.The painting brings attention to the life-giving native mesquite tree. We honor the bat (upper right) who depends on the agave plant (colorfully portrayed to the right of the mountain lion); the prairie dogs who escaped the Zoo two years ago; the endangered Mexican grey wolf; and the wild yellow poppies that appear every spring. A chakra rainbow encircles the earth as a protective labyrinth. We are also raising awareness of the need to preserve the 372-acre Rio Bosque wetlands, nurtured for 20 years by the University of Texas in El Paso. A beaver has returned. We honor this sacred land in our painting. The Texas Department of Highways is studying the impact of three proposed new highways by and over the wetlands. Citizens are seeking permanent protection. There will be a Forest of Singing Tree Mural for you to come see. August 8th through 30th at the International Museum of Art.

The 442 people at Casa Auto Group who created the Casa Singing Tree of Trust, Love, and Community experienced the depth of the connection they have with each other, many for the first time. They began building the wider community of Casa Auto through stepping outside their routines and seeing each other not as sales people, as service people, as accountants or managers or owners—but as human beings. They had an immediate experience that their contribution to the mural and to Casa Auto Group is unique and essential, that each one has something to give that only she or he can give. The Future Accelerator Singing Tree will be at the Singing Tree Mural Forest gallery at the International Museum of Arts in El Paso. We hope to see ou there Aug.8-30th. The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) commissioned this mural for their 2019 Conference in Palo Alto, California. The Future Accelerator Singing Tree also commemorates the 50th anniversary of astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s founding of IONS, which is dedicated to the mind in all its ways of knowing, both scientific and spiritual. When Edgar traveled back from the moon, his ship spun so that he saw the moon, the sun, the earth, the moon, the sun, the earth. He experienced a dissolving of his physical self into all the molecules of the universe. For three days, this mystical experience mystified the engineer. Because of this profound spiritual transformation, he dedicated his life to bringing together the sciences and the intuitive in the Institute of Noetic Sciences.

We invite you to see this mural in person at the International Museum of Art in El Paso, Texas. Opening on Saturday, Aug. 8th. Along with other Singing Tree Murals. The Mahogany Singing Tree to Reunite Children with Their Families (11 x 7) was co-designed with middle school students from Hearthstone School, Sperryville, VA. UTC then partnered with ReDesign Training to add a leaf for each of the 368 children who were still separated from their families as of June 2021 since being split apart in 2018 at the U.S./Mexican border. People from Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, California, Canada gave leaves and birds with prayers for reuniting. $13,000 was raised for Kids in Need of Defense who has helped to bringing together 1100 families out of the 5700 who were torn apart.

I had the privilege of being in my native Pittsburgh when Fred Rogers died. His spirit filled the air for over a week. People were kinder, more tender, simpler, loved the kids a little more. I am having a similar experience with the passing of Hal Marcus Studio & Gallery. His spirit is filling the air of El Paso. I am meeting him around every corner and every other Instagram post. People are more colorful, more willing to find the joy in their lives and more courageous in unabashedly being their wild and beautiful selves. I met Hal only five years ago when I moved to El Paso. We immediately connected on our love of Peace and Art. Here is a lovely talk he gave at the 2024 International Day of Peace Symposium, held at UTEP and organized by Unity Through Creativity Foundation. His words have new power now.
