1d8ca89e-d57f-4e1d-8ff7-2010054c1f89 Back to Gallery Mural # 150 The Elm Singing Tree of Light in the Darkness 1/1 This painting was created for the benefit of Candlelighters, El Paso, a non-profit who serves children and their families experiencing cancer. It was made possible by a donation from CASA Nissan to Unity Through Creativity Foundation, who facilitated its creation. Over 100 people attending the International Day of Peace Symposium on Sept. 20th and 21st at the University of Texas at El Paso contributed images of Light in the Dark on the leaves and prayers for those being served by Candlelighters. The children and their families added images on the candles and birds. The central figure of a child holding a candle in the darkness stands for all children who are wrestling with hardship and challenge, specifically with cancer. The Singing Tree® Mural Project began in 1999 when an 8-year-old girl asked “What if the whole world made a painting together?” Using the model of trees and forests, over 27,000 people from 64 countries have made 150 murals that demonstrate the beauty, power and possibility of collaboration. The whole world’s invited. Date: November 21, 2025 Facilitator: Laurie Marshall Partners: Casa Nissan Location: El Paso, TX, USA Previous Next

7f5eb6c9-2058-4082-a996-c856958b09ba Back to Gallery Mural # 85 The Banyan Singing Tree of the Beloved Community 1/1 George Washington University’s e-Co Leadership Coaching Certificate program asked the 15 participants to reflect on what they learned. I facilitated a collaborative creative process. Together they created the Banyan Singing Tree of the Beloved Community. Just as leaves convert sunlight into food and drop to the ground to fertilize the soil, the Banyan LEAVES symbolize: What service do I wish to bring to the world? Flying, soaring, swooping, gliding, flocking, pivoting BIRDS symbolize the free and inspiring movement of a coach in the world. The imagery of the birds answer the question: What is my wish for myself as a coach? Humans begin as devouring little caterpillars. Most of us go through a stage when we have a protective outer shell while we fall apart inside without knowing that something magnificent will emerge. The butterfly symbolizes: How did the program transform me? 3bd57b2f-8fa7-40ab-a1d1-b024ffa15da4 Back to Gallery Mural # 77 AIMS High School Restorative Justice Singing Tree 1/1 The Restorative Justice Singing Tree Mural co-designed with AIMS high school students focusing on repairing harm and building trust. Funding from Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth , California Arts Council , the Peaceful World Foundation and Oakstop . "Criminal Justice sees crime as broken laws and justice as punishment. Restorative justices sees crime as broken lives and justice as healing. Forgiveness is neither required or guaranteed in Restorative Justice. Nor is it a determinant of success. Success happens in well-prepared and well-facilitated encounters where persons who have been harmed feel safe enough to freely share their stories and express their needs and persons causing harm tell the truth, express remorse and responsibility and offer reparations. Success continues when all parties together fashion a plan to repair harm that is actually carried out. This may - or may not - lead to forgiveness. Either way, Restorative Justice has done its job." With rapid change swirling around us, strengthening family and community is a health imperative. After completing The CASA Singing Tree of Trust, Love and Community, Comptroller David Canales commented, "What I will take back to my work at Casa Autogroup is to remind myself that none of us are ever alone if we choose it." https://www.unitythroughcreativity.org/singing-tree-murals/casa-singing-tree-of-trust-love-and-community Play Video Play Video 05:41 Unity Through Creativity Casa Singing Tree of Trust, Love, and Community | Short Making the Casa Singing Tree of Trust, Love, and Community with Casa Auto in El Paso TX. Play Video Play Video 15:34 Unity Through Creativity Making the Casa Singing Tree of Trust, Love, and Community | Casa Auto Over the course of nine days Unity Through Creativity led seven Singing Tree® Mural workshops with the Casa Auto Group based in El Paso, Texas. We took our starting point from the vision Casa Auto Group has of itself: Casa is home, and home is heaven. The Casa Singing Tree project began with a Lead Design Team that included the three owners and twenty managers and executives. They selected the theme of trust, love, and community, designed the mural, and painted the background. Then the five UTC facilitators took the mural to six locations for employees to add leaves, birds, stars—and for this mural, acorns, because the tree the Lead Design Team chose is the Texas live oak, a favorite of Wally’s, a tree that spreads its branches wide enough to include everyone beneath it. The 442 people at Casa Auto Group who created the Casa Singing Tree of Trust, Love, and Community experienced the depth of the connection they have with each other, many for the first time. They began building the wider community of Casa Auto through stepping outside their routines and seeing each other not as sales people, as service people, as accountants or managers or owners—but as human beings. They had an immediate experience that their contribution to the mural and to Casa Auto Group is unique and essential, that each one has something to give that only she or he can give. https://www.unitythroughcreativity.org/the-singing-tree-project Play Video Play Video 04:14 Unity Through Creativity Joanna Vaughn Creative Community Teambuilding Facilitator | Testimonial Creative Community Teambuilding Facilitator Joanna Vaughn shares her experience as a facilitator.
